| 2022 | North of 50 spearheads a community initiative seeking support to construct a roof over the PaB rink resulting in the formation of a community-based rink roof Working Group, distinct from North of 50. |
| Dec. 2023 | Deputation made to Council by the rink roof Working Group resulting in gaining Council's support for a community working group to steward a roof over the rink project including seeking project funding opportunities. Council resolves to support and work together with the Working Group. This represents an historic partnership between the community and The Township! |
| Jan.–Apr. 2024 | Working Group initiates a strategic volunteer recruitment plan to establish the Raise the Roof Steering Committee — a six-member group formed to bring the planning, funding, and community involvement together to realize our goal of a roof over our rink. Professionals in fundraising, communications, and finance are successfully recruited. Potential funder Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. (NOHFC) is identified and investigated. |
| July 2024 | Application to NOHFC is submitted by The ToA for Phase 1 of the roof project following extensive research by and significant collaboration with the Raise the Roof Steering Committee. Phase 1 would involve a refurbished rink surface, new rink boards and a special structural foundation to allow for Phase 2 — the construction of the roof over the rink. |
| Oct. 2024 | NOHFC approves funding for Phase 1! Raise the Roof Steering Committee and The ToA begin preparation of funding application to NOHFC for Phase 2 — the actual roof construction. |
| Spring 2025 | Phase 1 is completed. |

NOHFC grant application in the amount of $500,000 approved for Phase 2 — roof construction and other surrounding amenities!
With this grant, a full two thirds ($500,000) of the estimated completed cost of a roof ($750,000) is secured leaving $250,000 remaining for the community to fundraise to realize our goal without impacting our Municipal taxes. |
| July 2026 | The Township sends Request for Proposal for engineering/architecture services for the rink roof project to six different companies. |
| Aug. 2026 | Tatham Engineering is selected by The Township as Professional Consultant to perform the design and construction administration of the rink roof project. The ToA asks them to begin as soon as possible. |

The Raise the Roof Steering Committee officially begins the Fundraising Campaign and names the Campaign Co-Chairs: David Sharpe and Tonia Blenkarn. Campaign documents (Donor Recognition, Pledge Form, Case for Support) are developed.
The first two major donations to the Building Campaign are received totalling $35,000! |
